From the 4th of January to the 16th I was on Viti Levu in the Fijian islands. After stepping off the plane the first thing I noticed was the incredible humidity... It wasn’t even that hot, just humid. So, after the 5 and a half hour plane trip I was faced with another 3 hour car drive to Suva, the capital city. The following day was just spent plodding around like sleep-deprived zombies. But enough about my holiday, you want to see what Fiji was like, so here you go! This is the general, basic house most people who live above the poverty line line in. ![]() The is the general house most people below the poverty line live in. ![]() This is a simple one room house, which normally holds around 8 to 12 people, some houses have nothing more than mattresses, TV’s and, if they are lucky, running water. Here’s some more pictures of those type of houses. ![]() And in this one, notice the tenderment, then notice the big Coca-cola sign. ![]() In the midst of all this doom and gloom commercialism comes to the rescue, this is a Digicel shop (which is a mobile photo company) right next to the houses in the previous few shots. Out of place much? ![]() This is a picture of the Australian Embassy, usually there would be up to 20 people queuing outside, trying to get a visa to enter Australia and leave Fiji. This is the fucking road quality, another few more days and my ass would have been pot-holed off. ![]() And finally there were some great places to take some good shots, here are a few. ![]() These two are of Suva harbour ![]() This is what the cop-shop’s loo...

The only complaint I have about this article is that sometimes it's hard to tell which captions belong to each picture; they seem to alternate being below and above the picture they're describing which is kinda confusing. Other than that, keep up the good work! |
