Back in 1987 everything was mechanical when it came to throttle, breaking, etc. 191,483 on the odometer with no engine rebuilds, no problems (except replacing a factory clutch that finally died at 189,000), just normal maintenance. For as bad as Toyota's reputation is tarnished, I'd still buy a pre-2000 model MR2, Celica, or Supra. |

MR2Junkie Member 'Cunning Linguist' Level 21 Posts: 1,709 Submissions: 74 ![]() | You know what, that's a good point you have PussyLiquor. I'm still thinking that their wireless throttle and braking software is the culprit. They tried that shim thing with the accelerator fix, and people are still having problems. I never did put much faith in a computer controlling car functions for me such as brake and gas, because what happens when a computer malfunctions? Shit crashes. Figuratively (and literally) in the case of cars. I never saw a need to have a computer replace an actual throttle cable, or software to control braking instead of master cylinders and brake boosters. Shit is just a breeding ground for nothing but problems. Give me the old days where you could pick a engine with OHV design, massive displacement, 11 to 1 compression, and Multi Point Fuel Injection, and I'd be as happy as a black man in an electronics store with no security cameras. And I sure as fuck don't like the idea of a car being able to park itself for me. The day I get that complacent and lazy to need one of those things, is the day that I have a squirt gun fight with gasoline and random lit matches being thrown with my friends. |
