I was bored and found myself playing those damn kwikgames; SwitchIt to be precise. One of the levels was being difficult. It needed some extra investigation for which I wrote a quick JavaScript function to test a few patterns. Before I knew it, I'd written 90% of a game. So here it is. LINK |

Thanks for trying it. There are only 16 levels. The first 5 are preset as are 15 and 16. The rest are random. Occasionally a level 10+ pattern will have me clicking away 100 times or more before I solve it. |

Here's a hint for the last level (which is the whole reason I needed to make myself a tester) "Get stuck = be momentarily random." |

Finally got it. You should add a conditional statement so it doesn't set up a new board after level 16. |

I could include an active mouse timer and finish with a congratulations message letting the player know how much of their life was just wasted. Oh, I forgot to say congratulations to you. So congratulations; here's some prize money... |

I seem to be taking this a little further than originally planned. There are some partial patterns which occur reasonably often but they are very difficult to solve. eg: two squares; one in each adjacent corner. Or three in a row. These hard to solve end patterns occur when you've been clicking 40 or more times. Unfortunately, the javascript solver I just wrote is fine for 8 levels if 10 minutes is not too long to wait. Solver.html One trick to solving a seemingly random pattern is akin to playing Tetris: Click under each of the black squares in the top row. Then click under each in the second row. Keep going until you are at the last one or two rows. Maybe there is a solvable patten you recognize or, if lucky, it will solve itself. If this fails, try moving all the black squares up or left/right. While I have successfully solved an all black board, it was perseverance mixed with intermittent random clicking. The solution was never definitively recorded. Perhaps a VB/Assembly brute force progam will be needed. |

I totally didn't get it this morning when I played it for a minute. I've just had another go and suddenly it clicked! I got through level one in about 4 seconds and then romped my way through to level 9 where I am stuck. Have the rules changed? It seems to be leaving blocks where it didn't before! ![]() |

Level 9. You are into the 5 click zone - five moves were made for which you need to identify, follow my trick play as suggested above or, if you really need to, try the solver - for those embarrassing moments. I used to have a game very similar to this on one of those "256 in one" handheld games you used to could get for a few dollars at the local dollar general or alco. |

I guess you intended for there to be a screen grab of a swastika randomly made in level 16? |
