- Redid site layout (removed tables, using DIVS). The new layout uses some browser proprietary CSS3 properties that IE won't support. IE users won't see the shadows or rounded edges. I will make some slight changes for these browsers to have borders down the road. |

Awesome! That's one that I've been looking forward to! Good job dude. May I make a suggestion though? (As if I don't always!  )Break it out of the box and [h2] it.  (Don't worry, I've not lost my edit/delete powers, just edited them out for the sake of seeing it through a regular visitors eyes.) I spent a minute thinking that you didn't get it to work as you thought because I couldn't see it on the page. It just blends in a bit too much and gets swamped in the wee box, IMHO. |

This is a fairly technical change I'm making, and I don't expect people to know or care, because it is 100% transparent. i.e. You shouldn't even notice the difference from what I'm doing. I'm going to be changing the way the site handles user profiles and logged in status. The change will add additional security to profiles, and will also prevent the remote possibility of one profile copying over the other. (Like I said, it's a remote possibility, but it does exist). I make mention of it here so that you can keep an eye out for any issues, such as posts/submissions/points not accruing, upgrades not going into play, profile updates/views not working, adfree accounts, bans, and interest not working, and so on. I don't anticipate any problems, as I've thoroughly tested the new code. But it will take me a little bit to implement it throughout YN. |

Rewrote site mailer. Should be transparent, as always, except a few notable changes: - When you message one of the No Reply accounts (SystemNotice, for example), you will no longer have your message "bounced back" at you. Instead you will receive a failure notification ("Account is a No Reply Account CODEx123"). This will reduce the amount of unnecessary "Undeliverable" messages on the site. - Enhanced security and additional features will allow SystemNotice to use your SessionID in messages to allow you to do some changes directly from your inbox (like accepting friend requests, and so on). - It is now impossible to message a disabled account. Messages will be discarded and a warning will be shown. This will also happen in cases of database failure, blank "To" or "Message" fields, or missing subscriber mailing lists. All of these changes means that when you get the dialog "Message Sent Successfully", that it really does mean that, without any possible doubt. |

Note: I have made a programming error back in 2006 when I first built this forum system. It has been partially corrected for several months now, but in order to completely correct it I will have to shift all of the posts on the site. For me to do this, I'll have to delete all posts on the site, and put them all back in the database. While this sounds like a big deal, it will only take a few hundred lines of code, and about 30 minutes. How this will affect the site: - Most posts with a NAME attribute (this means links to topics with a #POSTNUMBER at the end) will no longer associate to the correct post, or any post at all. This shouldn't be a big deal, as it will still associate to the correct topic. Once this transition is done, you will not have to worry about future posts being affected. - The old fashioned "Post has been edited" message will be replaced by: Post has been edited by ragdoll on January 01, 2001 at 01:01:01 am (ex.) Note the time/date is before YN was made, and is literally 01-01-01 01:01:01, this will make it apparent what posts "grandfathered" into the forum by edit. |

Indy and Overlord have brought to my attention an issue with the mail system. (How did this take 5 days to get reported?) Bug (1266716676) Can't reply to messages This was a result of the change I did on the mailer, and I must have forget to test that. Beyond that, I have also added the selector back to replies, in case you get something from System Notice (for example) and need to pass it on. |
