Why the fuck is it, that engineers have their heads up their asses when they design shit? Why the fuck would you design a car so that the motor comes out the fucking bottom? Whatever happened to the days where you took a cherry picker, unbolted the mounts, accesories, and fuel and coolant lines for a vehicle, and were able to pull a motor out with relative ease? They need to start designing shit with repair ease in mind. Why the fuck do I have 1/2 of room between the Intake Manifold and the fucking firewall? How the fuck do they expect people to be able to remove said intake off mounting studs, move it towards the back of the motor, and be able to slip it up and over the motor to get it out?

It's fucking gay, and it enrages me to the point where I referred to my car as a fucking negroid.
And whoever worked on the car before I got it, was a total inept assfucker. Why the fuck would you tighten ground bolts to the point of having someone break a matco box wrench on it. God I'm fucking enraged.

Whoa bro. I remember being a little kid and my dad bitching about the same thing. I loved playing with the motor-jack (used hydrolics, shit was SO cash).

And then you'd have to take the engine out of the bottom, which means putting it up in the air, and having to buy a special thing for it.

What sucks is that all the newer cars are designed to have the motor come out the bottom. It would be great if I had a $5000 lift in my garage, but I'm fucking ballin' on a budget.

I'm white and can't afford that shit. I'm sure Toasty probably can attest to newer cars being a pain in the browneye.

I swear I can understand why most mechanics are wifebeating, drunken psychopaths. I would be too.

My dads only a psycho-path.

His hydrolic lifts cost a shitton though. Theyre fun to sit on while he puts them in the air.

Yeah, I don't understand why car companies think that it's easier to take a motor out through the bottom. You have to remove the fucking subframe and all that fun shit to drop it through the bottom.

Taking a motor out through the top FTW.

I agree with this. They're making it easier to build them. Drop the body right over the frame w/ engine already installed. Weld together.

Glad I'm not a mechanic anymore.

Guess what Creeper? My motor costs more to rebuild than it does for me to just buy the motor and trans from the private party I've been speaking to. 99k on the motor and trans, turnkey motor. Just put oil and coolant in the motor, and fire it up. $400 for the whole entire deal, vs $550 to redo my head, replace the timing chain and tensioner, replace the valves, rings, and possibly have to change the injectors (which I suspect in the burning of the exhaust valve). I can't wait until this fucking nightmare is over.

It's a money thing my young friend.

The big car companies were losing out on repair money from their "dealers".

Yes, the same folks that sold the car to you were getting "kick backs" from the big car companies whenever someone took their car in to be serviced or repaired.

The so called "shade tree mechanics" were able to work on these vehicles due to simple and logical designs so the big car companies re-designed their creations so you would need special tools, detailed schematics, ect..

Really sucks big time.
That's why all my vehicles are "old school" , easy to work on, no bull shit.

It's a 92 Saturn Sport Coupe. DOHC 1.9 liter with a factory header, which they only made for 3 years (with a factory header).

Now it's got a motor out of a 95 Saturn with 99xxx miles, no leaks, came with EVERYTHING including a trans. So now I've got a spare intake manifold, bottom end, coil packs, exhaust manifold, trans, starter, and alternator. I'll be selling the trans, intake manifold, starter, and alternator to recoup some of my repair costs. Also, the bottom end is going to be sold. Maybe if I play my cards correctly, I might brake even selling those parts individual. The trans alone could probably fetch 200 bucks.

Sux bro. If you redo yours for the extra $150, at least you'll have piece of mind.

Commodores are Pontiacs. I'm willing to bet it won't be that way for long. Your trucks on the other hand (Ute, Ford, depending on your location in Aus) will probably always be out the top.

I'm going through the "new" motor anyways. Changing Timing Chain, Chain Tensioner, Rod Bearings, Rings, etc. The motor is already prepped and ready to go into the car. I'd say I did all the work but I'd be lying. My buddy is helping me build / teaching me step by step.

BTW, a 1992 is new to me. I hate new cars because

1) I don't like having someone else own something until I pay it off
2) I hate working on newer cars
3) Most newer cars don't do anything for me.
4) I'm balling on a budget, and with a mortgage, 2 kids in school, utilities, etc, I'd rather live within my means and have extra spending money, then just be squeezing by because I have a $400 per month car payment. If I was black, I'd have an Escalade with 20's and be on welfare.

Believe it or not, I bought an Acura Integra off craigslist a ways back, and traded that very car to someone on craigslist for my Toyota MR2.
There are a lot of fucktards on there selling stuff, but if you can weed those people out, there are good deals to be had on there.

Well, good news is, that the car is up and running again. Now I can take a permanent vacation from cars, aside from normal maintenance.
