 Toasty SysOp Level 40 Posts: 7,388 Submissions: 227  | YouN00b's primary server has been hit with a very bad storm. This has damaged the primary harddrive in the new server, and possibly other components. It is currently impossible to get it back until more research can be done as to the extent of damage that became of this. I have reverted back to the old server (yea, slow page loads, lost posts, wah wah)...I'll try to get the new server up and running as soon as possible, however considering the slow income trickle of the site, the extent of investment may dictate how fast I can get it back up. During this time, please be aware that your POSTS LEVELS STATS, ETC are inaccurate...They reflect the last time we used this server, not the current (actual) stats. Posts, submissions, points, etc gained while the "Old Server Temporary" message is up WILL BE LOST. The same thing goes with avatars, account changes, etc. I merely put this server back into play to give members a temporary workaround until I can get the new one fixed. -BA |

I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a job within a few weeks, and I can donate some money to it. Not a whole lot, but it will definitely be better than nothing. |

I did more looking around and the motherboard of the primary webserver was toasted, and I'm thinking the optical and hard drives were as well. Power supply seems stable, and I made sure to check the integrity of my backup drive -- it seems like it's all good. I replaced the drives and motherboard, and am currently working on getting the system up-to-par with how the old one (the old-new one I mean) was. I'm hoping that once I get it all operational again, I can attach my drive and get the configuration files from it...If not, then YN may be down longer than today. I initially expected that we would be down for around a week, but things are slowly coming back together. If all goes well (funny, I know), YN should be back to the "quick" server by around 9:00 Central time (who knows if the server is on the right time). |

I guess the 80 cents from advertising with Adbrite sure isn't going to help  Everything is coming along smooth still, I'm seriously hoping I can get onto that old drive -- but I guess it'll be a while before I know for sure. |

Thankfully I didn't trash this old server, and was able to throw it into the network and do some rerouting until this one is ready. When I go to switch back, the site will be down. This should only last a few minutes (in theory), but may keep going back down while I'm getting updates and readjusting all of the security. |

Toasty SysOp Level 40 Posts: 7,388 Submissions: 227 | Update: - Old harddrive did have damaged sectors, however it does not look like site files were affected. The site should have all of the features we had yesterday, and all of the topics will be as they were then. - The old database was NOT accessible, which means that any sort of change that occurred last night will not be shown. This can impact any of the following: - Profiles: User upgrades, points, level upgrades, accounts (new), status changes (post counts, submission counts, etc), profile changes such as signature, about me, etc. - Submissions: Any submissions made yesterday will not be available, nor will any comments or ratings. Forum topics should not be affected (my own database system FTW). I will be doing some upgrade work, etc on the new server so do expect outages for the next 12 hours after I get it up. I should have it up as promised in the next half-hour, but it can take up to an hour and one half hours depending on my penis size and ability to keep it in my pants. P.S: Professionalism FTW! |
