 Coopz Member 'Penis Size: Massive' Level 35 Posts: 2,398 Submissions: 113  | As most of you will probably remember from a thread I posted at the start of the month, I used a vista activator crack thing to activate vista on my new computer, and stop it asking for a serial all the time. (I didn't pay the extra for an OS, so it came loaded with vista but without a serial, so that I could get a 30 day trial.) The activator seemed to do the trick... up until now! It's suddenly un-activated (I had read it could happen) and is now only letting me use it with reduced functionality. I have no start button or menu, no desktop, no taks manager, nothing but firefox which opened to the page to let me purchase a serial from microsoft. Luckily it let me navigate away from the page, but all I can do is browse. I'll see if I can torrent another activator, but I seriously doubt it will let me run utorrent or run the activator. I think I'm pretty fucked.  |

(Installed Ubuntu to see what it's like, and I wasn't very impressed. Doesnt work with my HD drivers very well, resolution settings are fucked and I cant get any sound. I'm on it now, windows froze when I tried to open utorrent. WTF!? Linux just logged me out and back in for some unknown reason! I thought I'd lost this post but firefox remembered it. But at least I should hopefully be able to download XP and burn it to disk and just install that. NOOOO!!!!! I've just remembered, I had a fuckton of photos in a folder on my desktop which I don't have backed up anywhere. I've allready tried seeing if I can access my vista files but I only seemed to be able to see a few. I'm off to see if I can find them. Fuck, this has pissed me off quite a bit. I'm going away tomorrow for a week and don't need this shit right now. I've been meaning to post an egg or two, was going to do it tonight but now I cant as all the pics were on vista. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!! |

Coopz Member 'Penis Size: Massive' Level 35 Posts: 2,398 Submissions: 113 | Over 100 photos that I took of the scenery on the 250 mile trip between home and the hospital I have to go to for my leg. I had been thinking I might post some of the good ones in an egg. Panic over though, being the masterful genius that I am I managed to re-arm vista, so I should have another 30 days to find another activator. Phew!  Here's how to do it, incase anyone else happens to have the same problem at some point. In my browser, I clicked File->Open FIle. I located explorer.exe (C:/Windows/Explorer.exe and right clicked and selected "Run as administrator." (I tried just clicking open, which did open explorer but wouldnt let me use anything on it.) I then located command prompt (C:/Windows/System32/cmd.exe) and right clicked and ran in administrator mode. Then I typed: slmgr.vbs -rearm Closed command prompt Restarted Voila! And from what I read, you can re-arm vista 3 times, which might come in handy if I have the same problem in the future! |

It was just so infuriating because I was planning on writing my egg before going away as I've been procrastinating for 2 weeks. And I didn't want to have to waste my day downloading an OS and installing it and having to install all my drivers and programs and wasting so much time just to get it back to normal! I just hope the next activator actually works. They all seem to be a bit hit or miss, there's no foolproof one. At least I now know not to worry too much if it does it again. I'll be removing Linux and GRUB loader and I'll probably install XP just as a backup OS. |

Unplug your network cable, go through the activation process, and instead of the network option, you'll get the phone option. Call them up and tell them you were installing BitLocker, and had to reformat the harddrive, that's why you need to activate it again. |

I've only got premium so would they still buy that story? And would they not ask me for my serial number or something? I never got one so wouldn't be able to give them anything. |
