SO it turns out YN is blocked at work under the category of "Games." (I blame you Dodge, you and your FGOTW!)

I want to know how the fuck they even know about YN as it is not a very mainstream site. I mean, I could see why RE is filed under Adult/Mature content because some eggs delve into bomb making and pyrotechnics and such but YN? Games? Not even "social networking"??

Honestly, Websense is fucking retarded. Usually I browse Digg at work and some of the links to the stories will be blocked but others won't. Sometimes the link's comment page will be blocked but the link itself won't be. Or vice versa. Hell, even the Wiki article for "Vagina" is blocked under "Pornography." Anyone know how the criteria they use to block sites? I was thinking it must be done by keyword but that can't be true as I have been able to access some offensive sites that do use naughty language. It just seems so arbitrary.

Ours was Novell shit, and I know its done by keyword, which some sites get missed or are new, but the second you're caught on one it's more than likely blocked in a week.

For now I can still view YN at work on their computer.

I work for a German owned chemical company so I'm not sure for how long I'll be able to use it to see YN, they are really "PC" crazy and block all the good stuff every so often.

I try to keep the cookies deleted, but I'm not sure if they can still see them on their end or not.

I'm pretty sure Websense blocks based upon metatags. My work uses that POS as well. Perhaps Toasty could have mirrors like RE because www.rotteneggs.com gets blocked by websense but any mirror (i.e. www2.rotteneggs.com, etc) does not get blocked.

Also, you can load a client for VPN services on a datakey and setup a home computer to accept connections. Even if your work blocks standard VPN ports you can always set yours up to use a standard acceptable port like 80 or 8080. You can even use your router for port redirection. For example, you can use your VPN client to connect to your home ip 189.12.13.45:8080 and you can have your router redirect 8080 to the standard VPN port 1723.

I've also figured out a way to bypass the program blocking services which stop unauthorized installs.

That's shitty, but I guess that means that YN is getting bigger, or the fact that around a month ago, I changed the meta tags from the topic title to the first post.

Meh. Overlord seems to have the winning plan.

My school uses 8e6. Probably the hardest filter ever to get past, built and run my bible thumping nuns with a passionate hatred for proxies and non-bible websites. Cyanide and happiness (explosm.net), for example, was blocked under "Bad taste".

RE was blocked the last time I tried, but YN is not.

Pyro451, see if www3.rotteneggs.com is blocked. I'm curious to see if that system is able to catch it. Please report the results back here. Member Added Image
