I did Gaelic in school for 5 years, though I was a "learner" as I didn't know any Gaelic before going to school. There were fluent Gaelic classes for the kids who had been brought up with Gaelic and were allready pretty much fluent. I never really speak it though, it's only really the old people in the area that speak it. And it's only really in this particular part of Scotland (Western Isles) that still use it. A couple of schools are beginning to teach it down in the main city area of Scotland but half of the people down there don't even know what Gaelic is. I've forgotton so much of what I learned of it in school just because I've not really used it since. I can understand more than I can speak. The Gaelic alphabet only has 18 letters! Wierd, eh?
