Hopin' people can give me some advice here, as some of you know I recently started working at gas station/convienience store and i've been workin with this older lady, she constantly steals, buys cigarettes for her underaged daughter, let's her daughter buy cigarettes etc. I don't want to tell cause I don't want them to all hate me, as I hate work place drama, but if they check the tapes and see that she was and that I knew i'll be bound to be fired.

What do I do?

they can't fire you for soemthing she did, there is very little they can say or do to prove you knew about it unless you were seen actually handing her the shit in the first place. Have you tried asking her to cut that shit out?

Don't EVER try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

If it comes down to it, just say that she said she had 'seniority' over you, and that she would have YOU fired if you told anyone. Also say that she said the manager/boss already knows all about it.

Oowwww.

Guilty by association. Failure to report a crime, the list goes on.

Indy, I'd evaluate your current management to see if they're appropriate. They have to know about the inventory issues. Might be better to go higher up the ladder, anonymously, if either are an option.

If it is only you working with this old lady it is gonna be pretty obvious who squealed.

^Not really. Who's position did he take? Did they leave for personal ventures, or on a negative note?

It's very possible that somebody who left an organization frustrated will turn around and try to destroy (or at least obstruct) it.

While he may get the initial heat, he can deny it until it is resolved, and then let people know on a need-to-know basis.

Local management may be offended if you go behind their backs, but at least upper management may provide relocation opportunities should your job be impacted.

Go to closest level of authority over you. Bypassing them will only cause future problems. If that level of authority doesn't help go to the next one (only after you've exhausted your options with your direct supervisor)

All the next level has to say when they talk to the old hag is that they were reviewing tapes and saw some stuff that was unacceptable. Anonymity retained.

Its not that Daddyspook, companies view that as "treason"; thats why if i caught a retard stealing, i'd tell on him. Think of it as a form of trolling?

Just tell the boss. If the worst comes to the worst and she hates you, I'm sure you can talk your way out of it and just say that they checked the tapes themselves and you had nothing to do with it.

^ Bahahah, I decided I'll wait a few shifts if I work with her and I see her I'll tell her to stop, if she continues, it's time to go to corporate.

I am part of "District Management" where I work. I often find immediate supervisors overlook problems because it could mean more work for them or they don't know how to properly discipline employees or they become too close to their subordinates. Tell me, how long did it take you to figure it out? Do you honestly think other people there haven't also figured it out?

When it comes to a minor issue, you shouldn't bypass your direct supervisor but if it involves something this serious, you shouldn't take any chances. If you tell your direct supervisor now and they do nothing and later you tell District Manager, your direct supervisor will KNOW who told.

The Overlord rules the Universe.
