Well, today at school I had to have a meeting about my attendance. They brought up the fact that "I am a smart kid" and that my grades and attendance don't represent that. They showed me some practice ACT test I took, which said that I would get a 22-23 on the real ACT test. They said that during the reading section I scored a 28, they said that was pretty awesome. It's just depressing though, they tried to praise me for it, they said it was an amazing score for someone who failed 3/4 of all their classes from 7-10th grade, and I'm a junior and need to start looking into colleges. They said with my scores that I could get into a four-year state school regardless of my GPA and transcript. It's depressing because 20 is the average ACT score, 50% get below, 50% get higher. It depresses me because the average person is pretty fucking dumb. Made me feel like shit... the total opposite of the schools goal. Fuck. ![]() |

Thats basically how i got into school. My gpa in HS was about a 2.8. Scoring a 30 on the ACT helped me a ton. I scored about a 2100 on my SAT. I got high scores because i'm a really good test taker. |

Lol, I think this is the way it is for a lot of RE and 4chan kinda people. I myself also got a 28 on the reading, 31 on the writing, and 31 on the mathematics (dunno about the rest). I took the psat's and scored in the 98% (woot). I didn't do a lot of a homework, but I came away from high school with a 3.51 gpa. All thanks to good testing abilities. |

I'm trying this year though, really hard. I passed every class for the first time since 5th grade. I actually enjoy school now. But I was looking into some local state colleges, and now I'm more depressed. Because if you don't have a good GPA, you have to have a 21 or higher ACT plus a satisfactory class rank. As of last year my rank was in the last 25. I fail. Wow, I just looked at a bunch of college ACT averages, and I am almost at the top of some schools for reading. Not to mention that my REAL test will be taken in two years (I have to repeat my senior year to make up credits) and I believe it will be much, much higher by then if I continue to work hard. |

Ecko, remember you can go to a technical school, and then transfer over to a 4 year college. |

Yeah, I know. I don't know as much about college as I should, but I think I'd like to stay at the same school for the whole time. Although, if that's not really feasible, then I would go to the two year. Actually, I'd go get my general credits at Normandale (a school that accepts anyone, but you gotta pay). |

I never took the SAT and only got a 1710 on my SAT, which I guess is still decent. I was in the high level classes all through middle school but constantly failed the ones I didn't have to pass to get by and got 70s in the rest. Between 7th grade and 11th grade, I got scoring 69.5% down to a science. From 8th to 10th grade, I failed an entire year's worth of classes, 7 credits. 11th grade I didn't fail anything, but I squeaked by in Algebra II with a 70% by scoring a 100% on the final exam. My teacher actually told me that year that she was mad because she wanted me to fail. I did a bit better senior year and didn't slack off quite as much, but I still wasn't really caring about any of my work, except maybe my AP Computer Science class. I graduated with a pretty low class rank and like a 2.5 GPA (which was pretty hard to accomplish, my GPA for my sophomore year, arguably my worst, was 1.2). Backtracking, back in my sophomore year, I gained access to some private (but not really) files in staff folders on the school's server, one of which was my English final exam. I ended up failing that, along with my Computer Apps class (not because of this, but because I never did any work, as I was too busy fucking with the school's server most of the time), and my IB French class, which I was genuinely struggling with. I ended up having to redo English II in summer school. Senior year, I found out that because I had to go to summer school, the school automatically placed me in English III Tech Prep and never told me, so when it came time to apply to colleges, I didn't even have the required credits to apply. So I had to spend a semester in technical college. I actually did well there, as I was turning in my work, and got an A and a B (I was only going part-time because student loans wouldn't pay for tech), but when my English I professor submitted my grade, she accidentally put an F down instead of a B, and that, conveniently enough, got sent to the local university where I was applying for the next semester. So, after I got that fixed, it was too late to get into the university, so I had to spend another semester in tech. It's been almost 2 years since I graduated high school now, and I'm trying to transfer to the state college in Columbia where all my friends have been since graduation. I have very few friends left in this city, and I don't really go out or do things anymore. I spend most of my time here in front of the computer, watching shit I downloaded off the internet, listening to music, or living vicariously through internet handles. I hope the transfer works out, as I now qualify for a state scholarship, but I don't know if that will be enough to pay for the difference in tuition. So yeah, YouN00bers who are still in high school, don't fuck around, it fucking follows you longer than you'll deserve, and it fucking sucks. |

I'm the same way. I'm not motivated to do any of the stupid assignments teachers assign, so I usually forget and not do them. I'll do great on tests as long as I paid some attention to the class, and I always do great on the annual tests. That's what I'm relying on to get into college, and then taking some half-interesting classes next year. |

I'm in the same boat. I really hate the fact i cant get a job with my major (Math/Statistics), just because i didnt elect to stay in school. I'm really paying for it now. Going back to school though, just dont know what for. |

Quote: So yeah, YouN00bers who are still in high school, don't fuck around, it fucking follows you longer than you'll deserve, and it fucking sucks.I hear it from my Mom everyday. Say, I'll be making mostly C's, and a D or two. She'll flip out and tell me to raise my grades. I'll raise them a letter maybe, and have B's and C's, maybe an A. She does the same thing again, claiming they're too low when she says "At this point, Alex, B's and C's are fine." But I do try more than I used to. I studied for my Geometry test last week, and I would've had an A on it, if I had rounded the stupid numbers right, so I ended up with a C or something. And, since we're done with Jane Eyre in English, I'll start trying again. Spanish is stupid and I refuse to get anything more than a C. Biology is easy shit, but my teacher's a subjective grader, bad grader, etc. So I usually end up with points off in there. Psychology is just a stupid class over here, since our teacher is a coach and doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. Engineering is somewhat easy, but there's only 2 grades the whole 9 weeks. |

I'm a freshman right now. The thing is, that I have a few learning disabilities, and no one but me seems to notice. Many teachers just attribute it to lazyness and that im not studying, which I am. Now, this really only affects my Spanish 1 class. Don't beleive me? In fact, in the latest test, I didn't know anything and just wrote "I'm taking american sign language next year." in the essay portion. |

Yeah, ecko, I feel you dude. Here we have this thing called the millennium scholarship which gives you 10 grand if you're eligible for it. I was except I had a 3.19 and it required me to have an overall of 3.25. I felt so shitty, especially since I'm pretty good at math. So I became an electricians apprentice, went to the Navy. Actually, come to think of it, it's probably better I didn't give 2 fucks about school. When I graduated, everyone was going to the same college, wanting to become an engineer because it's a "promised job". Yeah, it'll be promised when they find out everyone else in the world is picking engineer too. I'm happy I didn't do too well in school, would've probably ended up a miserable asshole. |
I love this forum, except for PeteyMax. What a dick. |

Take pride in the fact you can never be dumber than the blonde chick in my seminar class who thinks Wisconsin is the capital of Illinois. |

Damn, looks like a lot of us are in the same boat here... we all seem pretty bright, but just don't feel school work. Quote: then taking some half-interesting classes next year. That's what I did this year, and I actually enjoy coming to school. I like the fact that you get to do what interests you (besides core classes). I still have 9th grade classes to make up... once those are made up I will only be behind my class by like 2-3 credits. |

Quote: I really hate the fact i cant get a job with my major (Math/Statistics)WTF are you babbling about, teh1337? I made $25/hr tutoring high school students all through college and that was 14 years ago. Upon graduating I had LOTS of job offers. I've never been short of job offers and I guarantee I make top 10% of annual income of anyone on this site. I edited my post because I realized I was being a dick to you for no reason. My apologies. If you need some ideas for jobs while you're in school, hit me up. I worked full time doing math while in college. I would be happy to help you out. |
