While playing my drums tonight, I looked over and saw an old cigar butt in the ashtray by my drum set. Mind you, I haven’t smoked in quite some time. Did I give in and light it up? Could I resist the earthly pleasures of what was once one of the finest cigars a human could buy? I lit that mother up and let me tell you brothers and sisters, it was most satisfying. It was like meeting an old long lost friend, like Pam Anderson naked, rubbing her body all over me, a piece of me has returned, you know, that kind of shit. Will I start to smoke now? The answer is no, I just wanted to try it again and now I see that I can beat the beast that is tobacco. |

I like the odd cigar now and again,I don't smoke them as much now since the smoking ban came in because they are best with a pint of lager. On the Subject of smoking,I intend to give up on the 1114th of February and this time it will hopefully be for longer than 3 days. |

PL, he never said he inhaled it... did he? I remember when you stopped TommyBoy- at least, I'm pretty sure it was you. Well done for staying stopped, and for even sticking to your convictions of beating the beast even after having a tantalising taste of your cigar. I stopped smoking just over a month ago. I had a few joints last night, a couple of pipes last week, and smoked a few cigarettes when I was out at the pub a couple of weeks ago. That's ok though, because when I stopped I made the deal with myself that I'm still allowed to smoke cannabis, just not half as much as I did before, and that I'd be allowed to smoke on nights out at the pub. |

It's rare that I smoke cigars anymore, but they're not really "chemically relaxing." (per-se). You do get some nicotine from having the smoke in your mouth, and some of it does makes its way into your lungs. It depends on the cigar, but most are smoked for flavor, and some just for social status. (i.e. look at my non-inhalable, oversized cigarette that costs as much as two packs of smokes). The Backwoods ones I mentioned are fairly cheap, but leave a good taste in your mouth. I remember when I was 16 and had just started working in the local supermarket after school and at weekends. My best friend at the time started there too. We worked all the hours god sent, and in celebration of our first pay packet (which was huge, at least by our standards back then) we decided to smoke cigars on payday (legal smoking age here at the time was 16, it's since been raised to 18). SO on our lunch break from school on payday, we walked to the supermarket we worked at, where we normally went to buy our lunch. I bought the biggest cigar the place had, and my friend had brought one in from home (he had a bit of an ornamental collection which he didn't normally smoke). We casually puffed on these on our walk back to school, strolling along like millionaires. That was a great day, lol. I've smoked a few apart from that, but I'm not really a fan of them. |
