It's probably no surprise that I prefer doing the server-side code (features, forum, and so on). While the site runs great, there are a few areas that can use improvement. One of those happens to be the user profiles. I'm looking for people who want to volunteer ideas for a new profile layout. You don't have to worry about knowing XHTML, CSS, or how PHP, SQL, and Javascript tie into this -- I'll take care of all of that when the final one is chosen. Please keep this topic to entries and complements/comments/suggestions/criticisms on entries only. There will be a separate topic made for polling the final choice. To integrate your design into YN successfully, you must account for the following requirements and restrictions: - The current width of the white part of the site "clouds" is 800 pixels, however most of the site's layout is constrained to 95% of this (760 pixels). So you should plan a width not to exceed this, accounting for avatar fluctuations. - The username must appear as a "H1" element, centered at the top, with "H2" text below it. Example: User Profile - User statistics must be listed, including rank (Mod, Member, etc), Level, Points, Submissions, Posts, Join date, Instant Messengers - Various Submission types (Images, Videos (both preferrably thumbnail versions), articles, and urbex) - An area to display the last 5 posts, and last 5 topics. - Friends section - About Me, Interests, Hobbies, Music all with the "H2" style as above. - Starbar and current rating Nice to have: - Message link - Add as friend - Anything suggested in the Feature Request page. A few design notes: - "Cloud" background is #FFFFFF (white) - Background color of the site is typically #123456, as are the H1 and H2 elements. - Body text is #222222 - Font order (for degradation purposes) is Verdana, Tahoma, Arial, (WINDOWS) and sans-serif (UNIX/LINUX) and any fonts used should focus on these font properties. If there are any questions pertaining to this, please feel free to post them. Oh, and the winner will get 10,000 * Member Level and a notation in the documentation (help, etc) about their design being implemented. Uses [view] tag. |

I made this, but I need to work on it more. I forgot to add the friends list and 5 latest posts. Basically, they would follow the theme of the main page. Friends would be like the 'online now' section. 5 latest posts would be in a scroll box twice as wide as the others, spanning the width of the 'cloud area'.  |

My design would mean the avatar size would have to be limited and the "About me" fields etc would need to have a character limit. Also,in my head I was imagining that the user could change the color of the dark blue bits to whatever color they want.  Ah shit just looking over it there and noticed I never put the last 5 posts/topics.Hmmm,I would probs stick it along the bottom of the bottom dark blue rectangle. |

I'd keep the contact info where it is, but tidy it up a bit by just displaying little hyperlinked icons for each messenger that the user has submitted info for, instead of a text link. I'd have this centered. That's just me though, I like to give helpful suggestions or constructive criticism but it's obviously up to you (or Toasty, lol). |
