AE Member 'Albino Ethiopian' Level 19 Posts: 1,013 Submissions: 18 ![]() | To clarify, I enjoy the simplistic color shift more than just a simple gradient. Gradients always seem kind of lazy and prototypical of Web 2.0 mistakes, a step above lens flare, but still. |

It looks to me like colin used a gradient too, but with a bit of added highlighting and bevelling. And thanks commandprompt! For anyone who didn't see my buttons in place, here's a pic to help you see how they look when they are in place: ![]() |

AtlKip Member Level 2 Posts: 63 ![]() | I don't like the current ones that are up now. I like Colin's because it's simple. When it was up the images where hard to make out though. Coopz' is cool too but I don't like the rounded edges. Actually, I don't like the rounded edges for any of those ones we have. The background we have now and rounded edges don't work well because the edges are not transparent. As you scroll to a spot with white you can see this clearly. Also, the edges are rounded off too roughly. The bbcode buttons above the reply box work well because they're not rounded off. A simple one toned button would work well for the top. On my short lived graphics site once you hover over a button, it would be highlighted(another button), I think I used CSS or some shit. Anyways, what I'm getting at is that the rounded edge thing is good in some parts, but I think it's overused and the button layouts should have the hover effect (although it may make the page load slower, etc.). As soon as I get this CS4 to work, I can actually show you what I'm talking about. |

Coopz Member 'Penis Size: Massive' Level 35 Posts: 2,398 Submissions: 113 ![]() | Atl, mine is the one that has the sharp edges (I believe the one you are refering to that is simple but the images were hard to make out when it was up). Colins is the one that's up just now. Toasty's is the last one in his post, with the rounded edges also. |

AtlKip Member Level 2 Posts: 63 ![]() | Oh okay, yours is good. Instead of the gradient it would be cool with maybe scanlines and a border for each button. Or just no gradient and a light grayish border around the whole thing. |

Coopz Member 'Penis Size: Massive' Level 35 Posts: 2,398 Submissions: 113 ![]() | Thanks cmd. I realise the icons on mine are a bit difficult to make out, but I was just working with what was already there. I did enlarge them a bit but you can't enlarge much without a quality loss. I could redo it with different icons like the ones in colins, if I had access to them. Not too sure where you go for them though, but I guess I could search about. I'm not sure that scanlines would work, and I don't really like the idea of having borders. I think less is more in this case, and prefer the subtle look. I could get rid of the gradient if people don't like it. And I tend to agree with AtlKip about the overdose of rounded edges, I think we need to keep some sharp edges in there to keep balance. |
