 Bezerk Member 'I Speak The Truth.' Level 27 Posts: 1,717 Submissions: 82  | Today is the 7/2/09, And currently where I live the temperature is at 47 Degrees Celcius or 116.6 Fahrenheit. Yes, you may think, lucky Bezerk! He gets to sit in hot comfort.... GET FUCKED. I'm sorry but this is NOT FUN, currently in Melbourne, Victoria there are more than 5 bushfires burning out of control 1 of which is near me. As I type this an enormous cloud of smoke is passing overhead. I have taken photo's and I will upload them later. The Eastern part of the state known as 'Gippsland' is completely isolated with both the highway, freeway and rail networks cut off from the fire, no one can leave wether they want to or not. Luckily thats not me. The fire burning near me is the one called the 'Murrindindi' fire, it is currently burning out of control, and is at a size of 500 Hectares. On the plus side you've just reminded me it's my birthday tomorrow when you quoted the date there!  I hope this isn't in bad taste but this is how I picture you right now in that sweltering heat:  I hope the fires don't cause any deaths or burn down houses or anything like that. |

Level 27 Posts: 1,717 Submissions: 82 | Well, I just woke up and the current damage estimate is that around 80 people have been confirmed dead, over 300 houses are gone and with the wind change the fires are now moving into new towns who had not been affected until this point. |

We've currently had the hottest day of the year, and most years the bushfires are useually quite small. UPDATE: Over 800 houses are gone and 180 people are confirmed dead. That death rate is likely to rise over the next few days. |
