A guide to the back side Since most of you guys are coming from a different site, where even the bare minimum was too much, I'd like to introduce you to some of the features that are available on YN. While most of these are "Hiding in plain sight", some are not as obvious. Multiple Votes for One Item  You may vote for any submission as many times as you'd like. Unlike other sites that don't let you change it, you can change it here. One reason you may want to do this, for example, is that your member level went up. When you re-vote something at a higher member level, that adds the new influence of the vote. Integrated Search  While YouN00b may not have the same results Google will, you can quickly and easily add YouN00b's Site Search to your browser and start searching around the site. RSS  You can use an RSS reader to keep up on the Past 24 Hours of the site. Speaking of the Past 24 Hours:  You can access it on the home page, and the main forum index. BBCode in Profiles  You can use BBCode in your profile sections to enhance them with links, pictures, and other formatting. As pictured, check out what Coopz did with his profile! BBCode Tags There are some little known tags that exist around the site. Some are even used in this article for formatting. You can see a list of most of the BBCode tags here, which is on the Help page. [google]search term[/google] will return a list of results for that term. [youtube]VIdeOiD[/youtube] will embed the video directly into submissions, forums, and your profile! [code][/code] created monospaced text, which is great for posting code on the site. [search] puts a search box anywhere you want it. You don't need to close this tag. Great for those painfully dull questions. |
