$10 Kayak Stand
Winterize your Kayak

I spent $10.59 building this, pretty cheap considering the cheapest kayak you'll find is around $200, and some are over $1,000.

My price doesn't include the screws, or the tools needed to build this. So if you don't have them, your price will be more.

What you need:
- (5) 2x4
- (1) Box of (at least) 2" SCREWS

Don't use nails, this puppy will fall apart quickly if you do.

Wood - Five 2x4s

First, chop two of the 2x4s in half:
Always measure them, some aren't straight, nor the same length.

Cut it.

You should now have four, half-boards, and three fullsize boards. Lay one of these on top of your kayak and center it:

This will let you know where your legs will fall.

Measure the width at the ends of the boards, and add a few inches. For example, I went with 2'.

Make two of these:

Keep the excess part for later.

Use a suitable screw. Mine weren't quite long enough, but they did the job.

Very cool. It seems like you like wood working. I know it's very important to make the goofy faces. Also, I'm guessing you needed to find a way to get your kayak out of the way? I enjoy your how-to articles.

I wanted to put the kayak away without it getting filled with water, or covered in mud. Elevating it upside-down seemed to be the simplest solution.

If I had a Kayak and some 2 x 4s, I'd probably build this.
